There Will Be Signs: Our Fifth Advent Astrology Devotional Is Coming
Hello dear one,
I am so excited to announce that Sarah Knoll and I are about to embark on our FIFTH Advent journey together on November 30th! For those of you who have been along for the ride with us, we hope you join us again! For newbies, you might be wondering, what the heck is Advent, and what does it mean to observe this tradition with Sarah and Lindsey?
Over the next week, Sarah and I will be sharing about the Advent season with you–what it means to us, ways you can celebrate it, and what to expect from There Will Be Signs, the name of our Advent Astrology Devotional that we have been publishing each year since 2021.
In the Christian tradition, Advent is the four-week period that leads up to Christmas. It is meant to be a season of devotion to spiritual virtues like patience, kindness, peacefulness, and joy. It is a season meant to cultivate hope, an emotion that signals the belief that all human need will be fulfilled. During the darkest time of year in the northern hemisphere, it is a time for candle-lighting and stoking the flames of resilience in the face of oppression.
When Sarah and I began collaborating many years ago, we noticed that Advent always takes place during Sagittarius season. This is the season ruled by buoyant Jupiter, and the one that courageously leads us into the pitch of winter, bearing a flaming arrow that represents our highest ideals. Sarah and I were so struck by the mirroring of the Christian calendar and the astrological calendar that we set out to write our first Advent Astrology Devotional, called There Will Be Signs.
There Will Be Signs is an exploration of how the Christian themes of Advent and the Sagittarian themes of chasing hope on the horizon intersect. Each day, our devotional members receive an email containing an essay on these convergences meant to stoke the fires of faithful contemplation and action. This year, Sarah and I will be primarily focusing on the moon’s journey through the entire Zodiac during Advent. We will write on each of the signs and how their energies express through the Biblical stories and characters that we most associate with the season of Advent. We will also reflect on the current lunar phase and what might be evolving within us, spiritually and emotionally. Each devotional entry will also include prompts for reflection, and a song that we will add to a playlist for the season.
Over the next week you will receive five more emails from us going deep on how to prepare for Advent: what to gather, make, or purchase to celebrate; our take on what Advent means personally and politically; and music and traditions you might engage alongside There Will Be Signs.
